Mandy Zhang Art presents Ripped, Dana Nechmad’s debut UK solo exhibition, curated by Tamar Dresdner and running from 22 April to 22 June 2025. The New York-based artist unveils a new body of work reflecting on memory, identity, and loss through paintings and textile pieces crafted from her late grandfather’s designer jackets.

At the centre of Ripped is an exploration of the body—its presence, absence, and transformation. Jackets suspended in the space become ghostly vessels, evoking both protection and performance. Nechmad alters their linings, replacing fabrics with hand-dyed or embroidered materials, merging tenderness and violence in a meditation on power and healing.

This dialogue between body and soul extends across her paintings, where monochromatic tones echo the textile works. Between abstraction and figuration, the pieces trace a fluid path through personal history, grief, and artistic reinvention.
